LAKE WALES – Reverend Loyd Alfonso Charlton, age 86, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021. Reverend Charlton was born June 14, 1934 in Abraham’s Bay Mayaguana Island, Bahamas to John and Virginia Charlton. Education: Abraham’s Bay All Age School; Florida Seminary: Diploma of Theology 1993. Christian Affiliation: Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church; Ordained a Gospel Minister 1989; Associate Minister; Former Deacon; Sunday School and Bible Class Teacher. Occupation: Retired after 30 plus years of employment with Florida Natural Growers. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sister Gertrude Charlton; parents: John and Virginia Charlton; brother: Hubert Charlton, Nassau, Bahamas; sisters: Pearline Pratt and Shirley Farrington, Nassau, Bahamas. He leaves to cherish loving and precious memories, two daughters: Stephanie Charlton, Lake Wales, FL and Mary Davis (Bishop Earl Davis), Newberry, FL; two stepdaughters: Merlyn Richardson (Arnell), Jonesboro, GA and Barbara Cobb (Juan), Lake Wales, FL; one stepson: Michael Johnson (Anette), Lake Waes, FL; two sisters: Hazel Smith and Mary Scott, Nassau, Bahamas; two brothers: Norman Charlton (Ella), Freeport, Grand Bahamas and Frances McPhee (Evangelist), Mayaguana, Bahamas; uncle: Reverend Stanley Charlton (Annie-Ruth), Freeport, Grand Bahamas; six sisters-in-law; Ardella Green, Edna Glover, Callie Johnson, all of Lake Wales, FL; Beatrice Hall, Jacksonville, FL; Patricia McDuffie (Theodore), Miami, FL and Henrietta Cooks, Alapaha, GA; eleven grandchildren, eight great grand-children; special son: Minister John Duehart; special nephews: Anthony Johnson, Ervin Johnson and Steve Crawford; special friends: Brother Ronald Fairweather and Reverend Luria Caldwell; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
